Identify or Zoom to Building features on the map
If you want to know details about a property on the map, you can get more information about it.
To Identify a Feature (building/improvement or real property)
-
Click on the building or property that you want to identify. An "x"
will be placed on the map in the feature clicked. After a few moments, an entry for the Building/Location should appear in the Information Box. The name of the building or property clicked will show at the top of the box.
-
By default when the application is started Improvements (buildings, parking lots, plazas, statues etc.) is the active layer. To view other real property data types such as leases, encumbrances, current property holdings, acquisition and disposals you will need to turn those layers on by clicking the Layers Button located on the Tool Bar.
-
There are four tabs located across the top of the Information Box. When you select an improvement or property on the map you can then view pertinent data in the Information Box. To view additional information about the selection you can click any of the highlighted tabs. Grayed out tabs indicate that there is no pertinent information under that tab for the selected feature.
-

-
Documents related to a selection will sometimes be available in the Information Box (e.g. View Lease Doc). You can click on the View Doc button to view a .pdf with the detailed lease information. To view .pdf files you can visit Adobe Reader for the free reader download. Information on agreements that pertain to the building can be viewed by clicking on the Agreements: bar. Click on the Show Agreement icon to view a .pdf with detailed agreement information.

-
Leases associated with a building improvement will have maintenance and financial responsibilities associated with them. To review the responsibilities and who they are assigned to click the arrow to the left of the yellow folders:

Working with layers and map content
-
A mapping application can use one or more content sources. Each content item corresponds to a service, such as an ArcGIS Server service. Each source contains one or more map layers.
-
A map layer is a type of data shown on the map, such as roads, cities or a satellite image.
-
You can view the list of the contents of the map, turn on and off layers. To examine and turn on and off the map contents:
-

-
In the Toolbar, display the Map Contents item by clicking on the Layers button
-
When Map Contents opens, content items are visible.
-
Click the arrow next to a content item to collapse the layers within it.
-
The check-box next to the layer indicates whether the layer is currently turned on.
-
If enabled, you can click the check-box next to the layer name to turn the layer on or off. The map automatically redraws to reflect the changes in layer visibility (keep in mind that the current extent of the map might not include data for all layers).
-
Some layers may not be visible at the current map scale (zoom level). These layers are called scale dependent. You may need to zoom the map in or out to see a particular layer displayed, even if its check-box is checked to draw.
-
Metadata (data about data) can be accessed by clicking on the paper/pencil icon next to the check box
-
The legends are also displayed next to check box
-
Basedata which includes roads and streams can be turned on and off
-
Terrain and 24k USGS Quads, NAIP (ariel photos) and airphotos of the campus are all available for reference
-
You can change the transparency of all selected layers by using the Transparency Slider
-
Using the All Layers Off buttion you can turn off the currenlty drawn layers
